With the intention of ‘doing things differently’ ELLA’s structure is well…unstructured. 

Our structure allows us to respond quickly and encourages innovation and inclusion. 

Member organizations are those that are providing programs and services to Waterloo Region’s little humans and families, whether as part of their work or entirely. Or those whose work is connected to the 3 L’s - language learning and literacy. Or the early years. Membership is voluntary, flexible and self-determined. 

Each member organization chooses an ‘Advisor’ to represent their organization at the ELLA table. We request that Advisors hold a position that keeps them connected to hands on, on the ground work, but also who have access to leadership. 

Advisors bring their organizations voice and interests to the Alliance. They inform Ella about challenges and opportunities in their organization, bringing their insights, knowledge and expertise to our collective work and conversation. Additionally Advisors bring ELLA’s learning, events and resources back to their organization where they are responsible for communicating, distributing and turning ideas into action.

Advisors attend meetings, share Activator Updates and respond to Missives as well as supporting Alliance events (labour and/or attendance), promote our work and resources to their organization, community, families or children they serve. They are also responsible to mentor future potential Advisors and promote Cluster work opportunities.

Primarily their role is to make connections to the work, learning and one another.
